When protection fails, everything stops: Your WashGuard PPE Wear & Care Guide

It’s all it takes for your factory’s hygiene standards to collapse - putting operators, customers, and your entire operation at risk. Improper PPE care doesn’t just reduce protection - it can spread contamination, compromise food safety, and trigger a shutdown no one can afford. This guide explains exactly how to wear, clean, and care for your WashGuard PPE, so your team stays safe, compliant, and contamination-free.

Whether your team is handling intensive washdowns, food processing, or production line cleaning, WashGuard offers a complete range of durable protective wear, including aprons, jackets, trousers, coveralls, wellingtons, and gloves. Each garment features high-visibility reflective strips to help your team “be safe and be seen” and is available in multiple colours and sizes to support your factory’s hygiene and colour-coding standards.

Made from robust 40% polyurethane and 60% nylon blend, WashGuard clothing meets EN14605 Type PB [4], EN343, and CE0493 standards so you can trust that every item delivers dependable protection and long-lasting performance in demanding hygiene operations.

before putting on PPE

Before You Put On

  • Ensure all pieces of PPE are clean, undamaged and the correct size.
  • Remove jewellery, ensure hair is secured (so hair‐net can fit properly).

How To Wear Your PPE

put on bib & brace

Trousers or bib and brace:

    • With your base layers on, step into the bib & brace or trousers
wellingtons under trouser leg

Trousers /bib and brace over wellington boots:

    • Step into wellingtons and pull trousers or bib and brace trousers over the boots so that the boot covers the trousers leg-end, preventing any unwanted splash.
    • Since WashGuard trousers are designed for washdown/hygiene settings, tucking the bottom of the trouser over the boots gives extra protection.
gloves over sleeve

Jacket then gloves:

    • Put on the WashGuard jacket and fasten all closures.
    • Pull on gloves over the jacket cuffs so there is no gap between sleeve and glove.

Hair-net & safety Goggles

    • Place a hair net firmly over your hair, covering all loose strands and keeping hair away from face and equipment
    • Place protective WashGuard Goggles over your eyes, adjust strap so they fit snugly and cover curvature of face.
